In One Year….

One year ago today my little sister got married. I love her and her husband, but it wasn’t exactly a secret that I thought they were too young to get married. My sister, in part due to the lives we were dealt is more mature than most women her age (She is now legal to drink) but I was worried that she really didn’t have enough time as an adult to understand who she was without her husband. She is only my half sister and 8 years and several states have separated us our entire lives but I am as protective of her as I would be if we shared a roof and the same mother.

My little sister and her husband, pre prom, pre “I do”

Looking back a year later, I haven’t really changed my mind on the whole getting married before you are legally allowed to drink thing, but I do want to take a minute to tell my little sister that I am proud of her. I think that it is amazing to be able to know at any age that you are in, all in, to a relationship, forever. To know what that means already is a gift that is ageless.  I am proud she is my sister. Her wedding was beautiful just like she is.

She really is my little sister. She is tiny!

She had a beautiful wedding, that I wouldn’t have missed for the world. Even if that did mean spending time in Texas….

Happy Anniversary You Crazy Kids!

Congrats to your sister and her hubby! May they be blessed with many more years of happiness! Carrie your thinking is just the big sister role playing. I know… I am a big sister! Can I see straw bales in the backround of the wedding? Looks like they were married in true country style!

So happy when I hear of young people getting married and it working out! I am currently 24 and with the man whom I will marry. But we aren’t ready yet. Marriage to both of us is a huge step and well I guess we are still scared to take the leap. I think it has something to do with the fact that so many of our fellow high school friends and acquaintances have already been married/divorced simply b/c of the fact that they rushed into marriage or they got married b/c they had a child. And I feel like that seems to be the case these days! And what a sweet older sister, blogging about her wedding and finding her true love! 🙂

I think everyone needs to do what is best for them… so long as they dont always ignore their big sister.

Nobody should ignore their redheaded sister in my family (I’m the middle daughter. 🙂 ) My older sister did what was right for her and though lots throught she was too young, she and my brother-in-law have had incredible happiness for decades and enjoy being together. It is awesome that they have an empty nest so young because they are having great fun enjoying the world & their successful adult kids already. Hope that your sister carves out a path to true happiness…. being down south is sure a good start!
