The Beautiful Bonnie Mohr!

World Dairy Expo 2013

World Dairy Expo 2013

This year’s World Dairy Expo was probably my favorite ever. Not only did I get asked to speak about social media as part of a panel discussion and meet lots of you guys that read my blog I got to meet the amazing Bonnie Mohr.

For those of you who don’t know Bonnie, she is just the sweetest, most talented artist that you could imagine. Not only are her paintings jaw dropping, she has a beautiful soul that comes through with every brush stroke.

In case you couldn’t tell, I have a bit of a girl crush. I wish I had just an ounce of her talent.

Bonnie is famous for her paintings of cows and country life and now she has broadened her scope and added verses and poems to her art. Unique, beautiful and inspirational, Just like the artist who makes them.

Because I want to share Bonnie’s art with the world, I get to do a giveaway of one of her newest prints!

Bonnie Mohr Beautiful Cow Bonnie has offered to give an 8×10 print of The Beautiful Cow to one of you! To enter to win this print you have to do two simple things.

I love all of them but if I had to pick just one it would be Big Dreams. I look at the picture and not only see myself I see my daughters as the girl in the picture.

Oh, it’s so hard to choose….her work is so great! I guess if I had to pick one, it would be “Seasons Pickins”…maybe because I’m wishing it was spring already!

I love Bonnie mohr’s work! I hope to save enough one day to afford a real painting not just a print. I currently own about 6 prints now! My favorite would be autumns gold! The red cow in the picture looks a lot like my red cow “dee” who just passed away. It reminds me of her!

My favorite Bonnie Mohr print is “Big Dreams” because I have always loved to show cows since I have been a little girl and my “Big Dream” one day is to walk in the spotlight at World Dairy Expo during the Supreme pageant of the most elite dairy cows!

Angel Twins …My Father was so proud that our family milked Holsteins here on Spruce Lawn farm for over 100 years. The day after his funeral in 2008, one of his 3 remaining cows gave birth to twins in the pasture next to our house. A true sign that Dad was OK.

O Ive always lusted for a Bonnie Mohr. They are however definitely out of reality for me. My favorite is Big Dreams. Ive still got them, and have had them since the ripe old age of 5. I hope I never outgrow my love of working with and showing cows and that the little girl my husband and i are waiting to be born next March will share our enjoyment with us. There is something so simplistically beautiful but still complicated about the love of showing (even when you only win from the bottom the line).

My favorite print is Attitude is Everything! When I was an intern it was hanging in one of the offices I worked at. I loved in the second I saw it. It was something I could completely relate to when I used to show cattle. I also like the Black Beauties print.

My fav is “Attitude is Everything” for multiple reasons – we have a signed and numbered one, I love the cow’s expression, the hidden objects in it are fun, and its also a saying that we use quite often on the dairy!

It is so difficult to choose one favorite. As a farmer, it is wonderful to have a talented artist depicted farm life — the artwork becomes a wonderful reflection on farm life and a pleasant addition to our home. First Christmas, Mother’s Love and Raisin’ Em Right are among my favorites. The snow on the ground is leading me to select First Christmas as my favorite today. πŸ™‚

So many Bonnie Mohr’s have been relevant at different times in my life, but now as the main caregiver of our farm’s calves, I have to say Pride ‘N Joy is the top pick; with First Christmas a close second. I have been greeted by that snowy scene so many frosty mornings!

It is so hard to pick from the many paintings, all are so wonderfully done and depict a story of nature in some sort, but yet I go back to “Living Today” since there are many roads out there that lead a path to all the directions we seek.

I love the First Christmas. There is nothing more peaceful than watching a mother with her newborn calf, touches my heart with every calf that is born on our farm. The emotion you can feel in the print….. you see in the mother’s eyes her contentment with her calf. We are hoping to someday collect enough Bonnie Mohr prints to hand down to each one of our children when they someday have a place of their own πŸ™‚

It has to be Hereford Haven. My 20 year old daughter, Emily, has her own Hereford cows and our entire family have fallen in love with them all. The cows out on pasture look like ours except Emily would be sitting in the middle of all the cattle singing or talking to them.

I have always admired Bonnie Mohr’s paintings, but my two favorite are “Attitude is Everything” and “Have Holsteins – Without Text”. “Attitude is Everything” describes many of my girls and their spunky attitudes and behavior. I have always admired the strength and beauty of Holstein cattle, which is why I love “Have Holsteins”. I would do anything for my girls and love them more than anything else! Thank you Dairy Carrie for doing this award program!

My favorite would have to be “Attitude is Everything”. That was my first portrait of Bonnie Mohrs. My mom got me it for Christmas because it looks identical to my most prized cow ‘Rosie’ and resembles her personality so well! I now collect her paintings and we have 7 of them framed and hanging throughout our house! Her paintings are a true work of art!

I love the Attitude is Everything picture. This is something my mother has told me whenever I get that same look. I’m actually going to school to be a large animal vet and have a very soft spot for dairy cows. When I graduated high school I even took my senior pictures on a neighbor’s dairy farm. This painting is so amazing.

“Well Hello There” is my favorite! This is totally the attitude of most of the Jersey cows I know! I could see any one of the girls on our farm making this face!

Attitude Is Everything will always be my favorite from Bonnie Moore. It shows how a cow can be such an individual with its personality. A cow is NOT just a cow!
